A Gadsden man is suspected of assaulting another man with a machete, officials said.Etowah County Sheriff Jonathon Horton said Junior Pitts, 40, has been charged with robbery, assault and unlawful possession of controlled substances.According to the police report, deputies responded to U.S. Highway 411 North to a report of a man in the road covered in blood on Wednesday morning.The victim, identified as Danny Chamblee, told officers he had been attacked by another man with a machete.Detectives determined Pitts as a person of interest and took him into custody.Chamblee was taken to UAB Hospital by Survival Flight for treatment and is listed in stable condition.Pitts is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center.The Etowah County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Etowah County Drug Unit, the Gadsden Police and Fire Departments.
