Woman faces vehicular homicide, DUI charges after Pierce County crash on SR 7

SPANAWAY, Wash. – A Tacoma woman is facing DUI and vehicular homicide charges after an early-morning crash in Pierce County.

A Washington State Patrol (WSP) report says Brie Ana Chmielewski, 22, was driving a black 2013 Ford Taurus southbound on SR 7 at 12:37 a.m. Friday.
The Tacoma resident, who had a 22-year-old man with her in the car, ended up failing to negotiate the curve on SR 7 while approaching SR 507.
The WSP report continues, saying Chmielewski continued straight and hit a guard rail before rolling off the roadway.

Officials say they shut down the roadway for about three hours. The man in the vehicle died, Chmeilewski was rushed to the hospital.
