Sacramento Sheriff: 49er Travel Plaza employee shoots, kills woman at gas station
One person died in an early morning shooting at the 49er Travel Plaza in Sacramento County, authorities said.
The shooting happened around 3:44 a.m. on Friday at the travel plaza on West El Camino Avenue, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
A person called authorities saying a female had been shot inside the business and was lying on the floor.
Deputies found the female and performed life-saving measures before she was taken to the hospital. Authorities said she died several hours later.
It's unclear what led up to the shooting. Investigators believe the victim and suspect knew each other. The suspect is an employee where the shooting happened, authorities said.
The sheriff's office did not release any information on the suspect.
