Popular book retailer Barnes & Noble is moving and updating one of its long-standing New Jersey stores.

Barnes & Noble of Holmdel, which has been at 2134 Route 35 for 21 years, recently announced plans to relocate to a smaller nearby location in the Commons at Holmdel, at 2130 Route 35.

The space, which is in the same shopping center, formerly housed a Modell’s Sporting Goods. It will have an updated store design, including a cafe.

“We have exciting news to share. This Holmdel Barnes & Noble is moving just a few doors up from this location in the Commons at Holmdel,” the company wrote in a Facebook post. “We are overjoyed to redesign and redevelop our store, and also a little sad to leave this specific location after 21 years.”

Other notable stores in the shopping complex include Best Buy, Bath & Body Works, Old Navy, Ulta and Houlihans.

“One of the many advantages of the move is that our new bookstore will be the brilliant new bookstore design we have trialed so successfully in our most recent store openings. This will be the first with our updated design in New Jersey,” the Facebook post read.

“Your new store will have all the best selections of books, stationary, gifts, games, puzzles and more, including a brand-new cafe.”

There are currently 19 Barnes & Nobles stores in New Jersey and about 600 nationwide.

The company this week shuttered one of its popular New Jersey spots, the store located in Clark.
