Donald (Don) Lee Yerby, 82, longtime resident of Seminole County, passed from this life on Saturday June 18, 2022, at his home in Bowlegs. Don was born in Maud, Oklahoma, August 1, 1939, to Thomas (Tom) Redus Yerby and Minnie Lee (Laird) Yerby.

Don married Carolyn Laxton on July 10, 1958, in Seminole. They celebrated 63 years together and enjoyed life in the country raising their children.

Don was a mechanical genius, working in heavy equipment construction industries and garment factories in Seminole, Holdenville and Pampa, Texas. Don passed on his mechanical abilities to his sons and grandchildren taking pride in their achievements. Don started a water line service, Seminole Plastic Pipe in 1979. Seminole Plastic Pipe evolved into Yerby Tank Service. In 2007 the Yerby family purchased Goff Inc., a local Shot Blast Manufacturing Company.

Don was an avid “car guy”. Memories of his favorite cars led him to restore classic cars into immaculate show cars, with a garage full of trophies for his efforts. He and Carolyn enjoyed attending their favorite car shows and the comradery of this sport.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Minnie Yerby, brother Tommy Ray Yerby and two sons Lloyd Lee and Donald Keith Yerby.

Don is survived by his wife Carolyn Yerby of the home; son, Ronny Yerby; daughter-in-law Melanie Yerby; grandsons, Thomas Yerby and wife Kim, Joe Yerby and wife Lyndie; great-grandchildren, Meagan Yerby, Tristyn Yerby, Cody Yerby, Alyssa Yerby, Brynlee Yerby, Rylan Yerby, Paysleigh Yerby, Whitley Yerby, Wylee Yerby, Emma Yerby and Ezra Keith Yerby, brother; Paul Yerby and wife Linda of The Woodlands, Texas and their children Erin and Jon.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Reverend Douglas Melton officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
