The expansion of the Micro-Market Recovery Program, a Chicago Department of Housing initiative was held on Wednesday, June 16, 2022, at South Shore International High School in the café. The event was sponsored by the city’s Department of Housing and the Micro-Market Recovery Program (MMRP). This announcement for the program represents an expansion from ten areas to eleven with the Neighborhood Network Alliance (NNA) as lead agency in the South Shore area. In South Shore, the O’Keefe area between 67th Street to 71st and S. Jeffery Blvd is the first rollout of the program in the area.

There are two parts to the MMRP:
- Qualified 1st time home buyers can receive up to $15,000 in down payment assistance for condos, single-family homes, and up to four-unit buildings
- Residents in the area can receive monies to rehabilitate the exterior of their single-family homes through the Neighborhood Housing Services agency
Over 100 community leaders from neighborhoods throughout the city, including Auburn Grisham, Austin Coming Together, The Chicago Bungalow Project, Far South CDC, Garfield Park, Greater Englewood were in attendance. The event was sponsored by the city’s Department of Housing and the Micro-Market Recovery Program. The dignitaries and speakers in attendance included: Anthony Simpkins CEO/President of the NHS and the author of the MMRP that now has over 11 areas. In addition, Alderman Greg Mitchell (7th Ward), Alderman Michelle A. Harris (8th Ward), a representative from Alderman Leslie A. Hairston’s (5th Ward) office, and Will Edwards, the Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Housing were also in attendance.
