Crafted Culture brewery to reopen Downtown

Crafted Culture has found a new space it will soon call home.

The Black-owned brewery, which opened in February 2021 in Gahanna, closed earlier this year to find a larger home to accommodate the growing community support the brewery has received.

"It became something bigger than we thought it was meant to be when we started, that's for sure," said Crafted Culture owner Anthony "Sizzle" Perry. "And we realized that a lot of people were going without something that they had kind of become accustomed to in a short period of time."

Now, Perry has found just the space, at 199 E. Main St., one of the ground-floor retail spaces at the Harlow on Main apartments Downtown.

Perry said the brewery had been working with Passov Real Estate Group in the search for a new space, and this spring found the East Main Street property, owned by Homestead Companies.

The nearly 4,000-square-foot space will house Crafted Culture's taproom and brewery, as well as a small kitchen. The space will seat between 85 and 115 people.

Perry said he hopes to build out the space within six months. He said it's exciting to be able to put a timetable on when customers can come back.

"People found comfort and consumption inside of Crafted Culture and didn't know where else to go get it without us," said Perry. "To be able to get open, it wasn't just a financial decision for us. It was almost a sense of social responsibility."
