I-77 north slowed near Charleston after tractor trailer crash

10:00 a.m.  Slow lane is open near crash site.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Authorities say Interstate 77 just north of Charleston is going to be closed for a few hours due to a tractor trailer crash.

The wreck occurred around 7 a.m. Friday near the Eden’s Fork exit.

Traffic headed toward Ripley and Parkersburg will be diverted north on Interstate 79 in Charleston.

Authorities say I-77 north will remain closed until crews can remove part of the wreckage. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department may open a northbound shoulder for traffic at some point—–but for now there’s no traffic heading north on I-77 out of Charleston—it’s being diverted to I-79 north.
