The Norwalk baseball team’s three-game winning streak was snapped at West Des Moines Valley Thursday as the 10th-ranked (Class 4A) Tigers won a 2-1 pitchers duel in non-conference action.

Valley’s Jeff Rose (5-2) pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts for the win, allowing seven hits and walking two. Keefer Sadoris (3-1) took the hard-luck loss for Norwalk, surrendering just four hits and one walk in six innings of work.

Norwalk, now 17-11 overall, scored its only run in the top of the first when Dylan Christensen’s RBI single plated Tucker Beving. Christensen and Jackson Campbell both finished 2-for-3 while Vinny Mauro, DJ Harris and Emerson Fels all added a single.

The 16-11 Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the second and scored the winning run in the fourth. Ryan Kuennen went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, a run scored and the game-winning RBI. Cale Ortner also doubled and scored a run.

The Norwalk baseball and softball squads will both play varsity doubleheaders tonight, hosting Grinnell at 5:30 p.m.
