Ingredients

You only need a few ingredients to make these Instant Pot baby back ribs. All of these ingredients are easy to find at your local grocery store.

  • brown sugar
  • sea salt
  • garlic powder
  • paprika
  • ground black pepper
  • apple cider vinegar
  • water

Substitutions

Vinegar: If you don’t have apple cider vinegar, you can use white vinegar or even red wine vinegar.

Ribs: I like to use baby back pork ribs for this recipe because they’re smaller and cook faster. However, you can also use spare ribs if you prefer.

Spices: If you’re missing any of the spices or just want to try a different variation, try this dry rub for pork recipe.

How to Make Pressure Cooker Ribs

Making these pressure cooker ribs is a breeze. You only need a few simple ingredients, and the process is very straightforward.

Step 1: Peel the membrane off the back of the ribs

Peel the membrane off the back of the ribs.

Step 2: Mix the seasonings to make a dry rub

In a small bowl mix together all of your dry ingredients to make your rub.

Step 3: Rub the dry ingredients into the ribs

Massage the dry ingredients on the top layer of your ribs.

Step 4: Add the apple cider to the bottom of the instant pot and add the trivet

Pour your apple cider mixture into the bottom of your instant pot. Place the trivet inside. Place your ribs inside the instant pot.

Step 5: Pressure cook on manual high pressure

Close the lid on your instant pot and close the sealing valve. Set your instant pot to high pressure for 20 minutes.

Step 6: Naturally release the pressure

Once your instant pot is done cooking, allow it to naturally release for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes, manually release by opening the sealing valve and releasing the pressure.

Step 7: Place the ribs on a cookie sheet and coat in bbq sauce

Remove your ribs to a cookie sheet. Add your desired amount of barbecue sauce to the top of the ribs over the rub.

Step 8: Place the ribs n the broiler

Broil in the oven for about five minutes, or until your barbecue sauce is bubbly.

Step 9: Allow the ribs to cool and then enjoy

Allow the ribs to cool for a couple more minutes, cut into sections, and enjoy! You can top it with more barbecue sauce if you like.
