Nappanee Man Arrested on Suspicion of Drug Possession, Resisting Law Enforcement
A Nappanee man was arrested Saturday, August 6 following a traffic stop in the area of 9A Road and Collins Drive in Marshall County. A Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputy initiated a traffic stop on a 2005 Yamaha moped at 3:30 a.m. ET. Police say the driver of the moped, Brandon J. Hattery, failed to comply with officers and threw an item into a yard. Officers discovered the item to be a methamphetamine pipe with residue, according to the report. Officers also allegedly found marijuana hidden on his person.

Two People Injured in Accident on U.S. 31in Marshall County
Two people were injured in a Monday afternoon accident in Marshall County. Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies say at about 4:40 p.m. ET 18-year-old Mary Miller of Goshen was attempting a turn on 11th Road to go east from the southbound lanes of U.S. 31 in a 2011 Volkswagon Jetta. She reportedly failed to yield to the right-of-way of a 2004 Ford F-150 driven by 76-year-old Verne Searer of Elkhart who was traveling north on U.S. 31 as the vehicle approached the intersection. The two vehicles collided in a right angle collision.

Bluebird bid $296,104, Thomas bid $258,944, and IC Collins bid $257,258 for two buses. When Argos Community School Corporation students arrive at school tomorrow morning (Tuesday, August 9) they will be greeted by a large, newly constructed dragon on campus. Superintendent Ned Speicher stated that there was a goal to add a large statement piece that rejuvenates the excitement of a school mascot.
