POUGHKEEPSIE – Four teens, three handguns, and a car were taken off the streets after a 10:15 p.m. traffic stop on Thursday night in Poughkeepsie.  Three of the teens are juveniles.

City of Poughkeepsie police stopped a sedan registered in North Carolina on Thursday night on Hooker Avenue for vehicle and traffic law violations.

During the traffic stop, police located three different handguns in the car.

Officers took the four occupants, consisting of three juveniles and an 18-year-old into custody for further investigation.

The vehicle was impounded at the scene and towed to the police impound yard by Countywide Towing.

Members of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Neighborhood Recovery Unit (NRU) assisted in the stop.

The police are asking anyone that suspects illegal drug sales in their neighborhood to call the NRU at 845-451-4060.  Community members are also being encouraged to call the confidential phone number if they observe suspicious activity or drug-related activity.
