You season 3 spoilers follow.

Joe Goldberg and his murderous ways are returning to our screens for a fourth season of You soon, but things are set to be very different.

The last season wrapped up with the new dad killing his wife Love, faking his own death, leaving his baby with co-worker Dante and heading to Paris under a new identity.

Penn Badgley, who plays the killer, explained: "The tone is similar but it's shifting in that there is a different format. We're using a different format.

"It's almost like we're shifting the genre slightly. And I think it works."

He continued that although Joe was last seen in Paris, the upcoming series will be set in London.

"To be real, it's cheaper," he told Entertainment Tonight about the decision to relocate.

Adding if being in the UK would change Joe, the former Gossip Girl star added: "He would sure hope so.

"But the problem is in him, it's not so much outside of him so he's trying to change. He is always trying, failing trying."

Badgley also explained that the move had an unexpected perk for his family, including wife Domino Kirke who was born in London.

"It's really nice for her to be back 'cause she left when she was 12, that formative time in life," he said.

"She moved to New York City so for her England is an incredibly sweet memory. When she went back it was very emotional for her, so it's been nice to have them in London.

"We walked on her childhood street that she hadn't been in... like 25 years or something and got ice cream from a little truck."

There's currently no release date for You season 4, but it's expected to drop on Netflix later this year.
