DODGEVILLE, Wis. — A 20-year-old Madison man was arrested Thursday following a burglary in Dodgeville in which a dog was found dead.
In a news release Thursday night, the Dodgeville Police Department said officers were called to a home on Spring Street around 5:35 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a burglary. Police determined the home had been broken into and multiple items were taken.
A dog was also found dead inside, police said.
Surveillance video helped officers determine the burglary happened between 1:20 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. Video evidence also helped officers identify a suspect vehicle, which was impounded about six hours later in Madison.
Police arrested a suspect on multiple tentative charges, including endangering safety, mistreatment of animals, burglary, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of burglary tools, theft and damage to property.
The incident was targeted, police said, adding there is no ongoing threat to the public.
