According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Denver Nuggets are adding Villanova guard Collin Gillespie on a two-way contract.

Collin Gillespie, who will turn 23 in two days, is a fifth-year senior from Villanova who averaged 15.6 points, 3.2 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game for the Wildcats in his final season. Gillespie shot 41.5% from three-point range in his final year and 38.7% from three during his entire college career. He’s a capable pick and roll scorer and creator for others and is a low mistake player.

The Nuggets are all about quality decision makers at the point guard position, and Gillespie fits the bill. He never averaged two turnovers per game in any college season, and he made good reads on the court in Villanova’s pro style offense. He should be ready to contribute sooner rather than later at the NBA level as a third point guard, and there’s a chance he can be a primary backup at the position as well.

Gillespie will assumably be part of Denver’s summer league team in July along with Christian Braun and Peyton Watson. He will be a good decision maker for the Nuggets, and he will likely spend significant time with the Grand Rapids Gold in the G League.
