Person airlifted after rollover crash south of Waverly

One person was airlifted from the scene of a rollover crash in northeastern Lancaster County Thursday night.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - One person was airlifted from the scene of a rollover crash in northeast Lancaster County Thursday night.

The call came in after 9 p.m. of a vehicle that had rolled into a field, just west of 162nd & Fletcher.

According to Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner, the driver was ejected from the car. When deputies responded to the scene, Sheriff Wagner said, they found the vehicle upside down.

LSO said the driver was on top of the overturned vehicle with his leg caught in the wheel well. Sheriff Wagner said the driver had to be extricated and was life flighted to Bryan West hospital.

As of Friday morning, Sheriff Wagner said the driver is in stable condition.

Investigators said seat belts were not in use. Sheriff Wagner said it’s not known if alcohol was a factor in the crash and it’s not clear what caused the vehicle to overturn.

According to Sheriff Wagner the driver is a 52-year-old man from Waverly and was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

LSO said the investigation is ongoing.
