Giants outfielder Joc Pederson said Thursday that he hopes San Francisco fans will be respectful toward outfielder Tommy Pham and the Reds when Cincinnati visits Oracle Park for a three-game series that starts Friday night.

Pham served a three-game suspension for slapping Pederson in the face before a game last month at Great American Ball Park over a dispute related to their fantasy football league. Pham responded earlier this month to a tweet pointing out that the Giants wore T-shirts before a game that read, "Fantasy football 101: Stashing players on the IR isn't cheating," as a show of support for Pederson.

"It's an unfortunate incident, and I feel like we've moved past it,'' Pederson said, per SFChronicle's Susan Slusser. "It was an off-field issue, handled and moved on. It's in the rearview mirror. ... I think our fans are classy and respectful. There's a respect level that needs to be held up, and when you see games in New York or wherever they were where they start throwing stuff on the field, that is not OK and doesn't help any situation. It makes it so much worse. So just keep it respectful.''

Pederson also said he's had no contact with Pham since the incident.

The Enquirer's Bobby Nightengale reported last month that Pham said Pederson didn't give the full story when Pederson showed reporters a group text message.
