Samantha L. “Sam” Briggs - June 16, 2022

Dansville - Samantha L. Briggs, “Sam” - 52 years of age, passed away Friday morning June 16, 2022 at the Vincent House in Wayland. Sam fought a courageous battle with brain cancer with her son Justin by her side. She had the will and heart to keep fighting but her disease won out.

Sam was born May 10, 1970 in Canaseraga, the daughter of Patrick and Pamela (Blaney) Briggs.  She grew up in Canaseraga and resided in the Dansville area most of her life.  She was a graduate of Canaseraga High School.  Her employment spanned a few different areas; Kraft Foods, assisting at a family run Alpaca Farm; and for over a decade she worked for UPS out of the Arkport office.

Sam’s hobbies were many!  She enjoyed kayaking; listening to live music (local bands); and she especially loved animals.  The “animal whisperer” would help any animal at any time, often donating to the local humane societies.  Sam was loved by her UPS customers and in turn was very loyal to them.  Most recently, Diamond Dotz were her go to as they were very therapeutic.  However, it was her three boys that she loved most and was very proud of them.  She was a “spitfire” with heart and would do anything for anyone!

Sam was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Pamela Briggs; and her grandparents who raised her, Bruce and Delores Osborne.  She is survived by her three sons, Justin Briggs of Arkport and her twins, Michael and Jacob Briggs of TN; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins; and many close special friends that were always there for her until the end.

Sam’s family and friends are planning a celebration of life that will be announced at a later date.  Contributions in memory of Samantha L. “Sam” Briggs may be made to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY 14572 or to the Hornell Humane Society, 75649 Industrial Park Rd., Hornell, NY 14843.
