PINEDALE – Pinedale High School alumni Roxanne Rogers continues to make community sports history weeks after graduation as the first athlete from the Lady Wrangler basketball program selected to play for Wyoming in the Wyoming-Montana All-Star Basketball Series.
Rogers joined an elite 10-member roster chosen by a committee from a pool of players nominated by high school coaches in all classes across Wyoming.
Lauren Davis, head women’s basketball coach at Northwest College, led the Wyoming squad against Montana at Sheridan College’s Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome on Friday, June 17, followed by a game at Lockwood High School in Billings, Mont. on Saturday.
Wyoming fought Montana point-for-point in Friday’s game, with the teams tied, 35-35, at halftime. Montana led by a single point, 50-49, following a tight third quarter before pulling ahead in the final-quarter to defeat Wyoming, 69-59.
On Saturday, a final quarter rally by Wyoming came up short in closing the 12-point gap Montana established in the first half. Montana scored the win, 68-49.
Rogers contributed 3 points to Wyoming’s scorebook on Friday and scored 5 points Saturday.
Before graduating this spring, Rogers made Pinedale sports history as the first Lady Wrangler basketball player to earn 3A All-State recognition her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was also the first basketball player, counting both boys and girls, to score 1,000 career points during the 2021-2022 season.
A multi-sport athlete, Rogers also picked up 3A All-State honors in volleyball for the 2021 fall season.
As an All-State recipient, Rogers will play in the Wyoming All-Star game in July.
Rogers signed to play for the Trapper women’s basketball team at Northwest College this fall. Coach Davis said she looks forward to working with Rogers.
"I loved having Roxanne on the All-Star team, and I am so excited to have her joining my team next year," Davis said. "I think she will bring many different aspects to our program. She brings leadership, maturity, and not to mention, she’s a sharp shooter."
