1. The Millington Municipal Planning Commission unanimously approved a Site Plan submitted for construction of a free-standing building designed to house the Margaritas restaurant. Commission members took the action almost a year ago at the regular monthly meeting (July 2021) on a motion offered by Vice Chairman Brett Morgan and seconded by Leanna Dagen. The Margaritas restaurant in Millington is currently located at 6542 Highway 51 North. Its new building was constructed on a 1.26-acre lot in the southeast corner of the intersection of Copper Creek Drive and Creek Mill Road.

2. The two-storied building on Navy Road is almost complete. Back in 2021 the Patel family, owners of the Millington Liquor Store announced plans for a combination gas station and liquor store at that former longtime location of 5077 Navy Road. Millington Liquor Store Owner Bharatbi Patel gave the green light and got the wheels in motion toward a new mega complex being built on the former site of the business.

3. The Millington Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously adopted a resolution approving a Development Agreement for construction of the planned Barrett Oaks residential subdivision. Board members took the action during their regular monthly meeting (March 2021) on a motion offered by Alderman Jon Crisp and seconded by Alderman Don Lowry. The resolution stated that PFMT Holding LLC owns a 24.82-acre tract zoned R-2, Medium-Density Residential, west of Raleigh-Millington Road and desires to develop the site into a 49-lot subdivision.  It notes that the required Site Plan bond or optional cash payment with Escrow Agreement will require the board’s approval prior to its release.

4. Nearby the Barrett Oaks Subdivision, upscale apartment homes are being built. The mixed-unit project was approved for approximately 75 acres on Raleigh-Millington Road.

5. The Millington Planning Commission has approved a Site Plan that was submitted for construction of an Express Oil Change business at 8546 Highway 51 North. Commission members took the action during their May (2021) regular monthly meeting on a motion offered by Vice Chairman Brett Morgan and seconded by Mike Caruthers. The motion was passed by six affirmative votes, with member Leanna Dagen absent. Charles Goforth, planning consultant for the city, said the applicant is planning to construct two buildings. Each will have a “block” on the bottom, brick on the front and a blue metal roof. He noted that the front building will be a “drive-through” structure with a “base” where the employees will work below the customers’ cars. It is also where the “tire work” will primarily be done.
