America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel was a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week. He and Clarkson had a hilarious conversation about everything from Simon Cowell’s bicycle accidents to how many people try to audition for them in public.

People Audition for Howie Mandel, Kelly Clarkson in Public

Mandel told Clarkson how much he enjoys being a judge on AGT, saying it changes his life and the lives of the people who compete. Since Clarkson has been a coach on The Voice, Mandel wondered if she ever gets people trying to audition for her in public.

“People are always singing to me and dancing for me in the mall,” Mandel said of his own experience, joking to Clarkson, “You’re probably in a restaurant, and they’re doing it behind your chair, and they’re waiting for you to turn around.”

Clarkson admitted that sometimes people will “randomly sing around me” when she’s out. However, she said she prefers for people not to tell her they’re going to audition for the show, explaining, “I’m not allowed to know.”

Fans won’t get to audition for Clarkson this year, however, as she won’t be coaching on The Voice for Season 22. Gwen Stefani will return to the panel, along with new coach Camila Cabello.

Mandel Jokes About Simon Cowell’s Bike Accidents

If there’s one thing Howie Mandel loves to joke about, it’s fellow AGT judge Simon Cowell‘s multiple electric bicycle accidents. In 2020, he broke his back falling off one, and then he broke his arm in another accident earlier this year.

Mandel said he told Cowell to “wear protection” when he rides his bike, which had Clarkson cracking up. The host also pointed out that Mandel sent Cowell a tricycle as an alternative. Cowell posted a photo of the trike on Instagram in 2020, after his first accident.

During the current season of America’s Got Talent, Mandel got another dig in about Cowell’s bike accidents when he allowed the act Blade 2 Blade to throw knives past him. As Mandel said, “I guess it’s safer than being on a bike.”
