Fifty-eight fire departments across the country are getting life-saving grain bin rescue equipment for free, courtesy of Nationwide insurance company.
Only one is in the KTVO viewing area.
The Baring Volunteer Fire Department, in Baring, Missouri, will receive a free grain bin rescue tube.
Chief Richard Witherow told KTVO his department will be the first of the winning departments to receive hands-on training on the equipment and how to help prevent grain entrapment deaths.
That will take place at 6 p.m. at the Baring fire station on July 11, 2022.
On an unrelated note, the Baring Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a fundraising chicken barbeque at the fire house on Saturday, July 2, 2022.
Serving starts at 5 p.m. Carry-out is also available.
The menu consists of chicken, french fries, salad, pie and ice cream.
Barring an emergency, a medical helicopter will be at the event for people to view up close.
