On Wednesday, St. Louis County Councilman Tim Fitch alleged that talks to spend Rams settlement money have not been progressing. Today the spokesman for County Executive Sam Page sent a statement to KMOX addressing Fitch's allegations.

In the statement, Doug Moore said that "the money is safe and sits in an interest bearing account."

The statement continued to say that while it's a complex issue, he is confident they will find a path forward. "No Rams settlement money will be spent in St. Louis county without the County Council's approval and public conversations," the statement continued. "Right now, the council is focused on how to use the remaining $74 million in ARPA funds."

Moore told KMOX that due to a mitigation agreement signed by St. Louis City, County and the Regional Sports Authority, negotiations are confidential. The city, county and RSA signed the $790 million settlement agreement in November of last year.

The RSA did not respond to KMOX's request for comment.
