TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Wabash Valley Football Coaches Association All Stars continued their practices on Thursday morning at Indiana State’s Memorial Stadium. Linton’s Jaydan Miller and North Vermillion’s Cartery Edney are on the Black Division, which is coached by Northview’s Mark Raetz. They are both excited for another opportunity to suit up for Saturday’s game at 7 pm.
“I thought it was awesome it’s always been a goal to play in this game for me and I wasn’t quite ready to hang it up yet so getting to play in this game and suit up as a Linton Miner one last time is pretty bitter sweet,” Miller said.
Added Edney: “It’s a pretty good feeling especially when the community looks up to you they look up to North Vermillion whenever they think of North Vermillion football not any other sport so it’s a pretty good feeling,” he said.
The Gold Division is led by Owen Valley’s Rob Gibson, who will coach one of his players in Jerry McBee. He says the competition level has been high all week. “Definitely better competition but still I’ve been doing pretty good it’s been very nice being able to make new relationships with the guys on other teams that you can’t really make relationships with since you go to different schools,” McBee said.
Added North Central’s Tyler Vaughn: “I’m really excited I didn’t think I was going to get picked because I went to North Central it’s a smaller school you know but it’s an honor you know,” he said. Vaughn will attend Saint Mary of the Woods College to play sprint football. It’s the inaugural year for the program with former Sullivan Head Coach Blayne Powell at the helm.
