LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR)– Lynchburg Parks & Recreation Department proudly announced their partnership for a new learning facility.

On Tuesday, June 14, the city of Lynchburg celebrated the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new solar education system at Ivy Creek Natural Park.

The project partnered with Earth Right Mid-Atlantic Solar and includes a solar array, net power metering, advanced monitoring, and an educational interior display.

“It’s a learning center for adults and youth to come learn how solar works and the impacts on the community,” said Corey Argentino, owner and CEO of Earth Right Mid-Atlantic

Last week, city officials gave speeches on the facility, which is the first of its kind in the Lynchburg community.

According to the Lynchburg Parks & Rec, a solar power curriculum could be in the making with Earth Right Mid-Atlantic to be taught using the new public facility.
