A Galesburg man is facing numerous charges after authorities say he threatened to shoot employees at a campground and then eluded deputies.
McDonough County deputies on Thursday responded to 23200 N. 2000th Rd. in Bushnell for a report of disorderly man who threatened to shoot managers at a campground.
The suspect fled the area and traveled eastbound toward Macomb in a Dodge pickup truck.
McDonough County deputies spotted the pickup truck near the Sheriff’s Office, at the corner of Jackson St. and McArthur St.
Officers, who attempted to stop the pickup at Randolph and Calhoun St, identified the driver as Jeffrey A. Griswold, 51.
Griswold pulled into an alley behind the Heritage Days carnival and refused to get out of his truck. Griswold then revved his truck's engine, while throwing several items at officers and doing burnouts, according to the McDonough County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies tried negotiating with Griswold, but they say he disobeyed commands.
A McDonough County K9 was brought in to help get Griswold to get out of his truck.
"Griswold was forcefully removed from the vehicle by officers and deputies and taken into custody," the McDonough County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Griswold was treated on scene for minor injuries and then taken to the McDonough County Jail. Officers were treated for minor injuries at McDonough District Hospital.
Griswold was charged with the following offenses:
Aggravated Battery to Police Officer, Aggravated Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting/Obstructing Police Officer, Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving. Griswold also had an outstanding Knox County Warrant at the time of arrest.
