The Barton County Health Department is moving forward with purchasing new
signage outside their office at 1300 Kansas Avenue in Great Bend.
Health Director Karen Winkelman said the department solicited a request for
proposals (RFP) for a new LED digital sign, software and cabling. The health department received one bid
from Mark’s Custom Signs.
"Unfortunately, this bid did not meet the requirements of the RFP because it did not include the electrical work in it," said Winkelman. "I have contacted a local electrician to see what it would entail. It looks like the estimate would be over the $5,000."
The Barton County Commission approved the bid from Mark’s Custom Signs for $51,096
for the sign only. The health department will now send out another request for
proposals to handle the electrical work.
