Splash in the Boro closed Thursday after person suffers heart attack, drowns

STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - A person died after having a medical emergency at Splash in the Boro waterpark on Thursday.

According to an official with the Bulloch County Recreation Department, the person had a medical emergency while in the lazy river.

According to the Bulloch County coroner, a 70-year-old person went into cardiac arrest and drowned.

Splash in the Boro posted to the official Facebook page that the park is now closed and will remain closed for the rest of Thursday.

The waterpark is owned and operated by the county. The Bulloch County Board of Commissioners posted on social media, “The Board of Commissioners is aware of an incident that occurred at Splash in the Boro Waterpark today, Thursday June 23. Out of respect for the family, we will not release any public information at this time. Splash in the Boro has closed today.”
