Former Missouri Governor and current U.S. Senate candidate Eric Greitens released the ad on Monday, and many people saw it as an encouragement to incite violence against his political rivals -- including Democrats and anti-Trump Republicans.

During a hearing in a Boone County, Missouri courtroom, Helen Wade, Sheena Greitens' attorney, demanded that Eric Gretiens make a statement denouncing any form of violence against his ex-wife. According to the Kansas City Star, Eric Greitens' attorney called the demand "unfair and disingenuous." The attorney later released a statement denouncing the threats, but said that he and Eric Greitens saw no evidence of any death threats.

The hearing was concerning Sheena Greitens attempt to move the couples' custody hearing to Texas, where she works. Another hearing on that is set for July 15th.

Sheena Greitens' attorney later responded to Gary Stamper's statement, saying they wanted to hear from Eric Greitens himself.

There have been reports recently that Republican operatives and donors in Washington D.C. and Missouri are working behind the scenes to undercut Eric Greitens' U.S. Senate campaign. The Washington Post quoted anonymous sources saying that factions backing different rivals are disagreeing on who should attack Greitens and how, and fear such attacks could play into his anti-establishment theme.

Meanwhile, two people familiar with former President Trump's reaction to Greiten's RINO-hunting campaign video say that Trump believes it went too far. Greitens has been angling for Trump's endorsement.
