Louisiana Film Prize waives registration fee for 2022 competition in Shreveport

Louisiana Film Prize has announced that its waiving the $50 fee to enter a short film into this years festival ahead of its July 12 submission date. 

Earlier this year Film Prize said that the $50,000 grand prize would be returning for its eleventh season and now aspiring filmmakers can enter their film without a fee. 

"For anyone who has ever wanted to make a film, the Louisiana Film Prize has been a transformational experience," explained Prize Foundation Executive Director Gregory Kallenberg. "That said, we made Film Prize registration free for the rest of this year, because we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to jump in, make a film on camera or iPhone, take a chance on themselves and make something for the most amazing film competition on the planet."

The Louisiana Film Prize Top 20 Announcement party was held Thursday at Shreveport's Remington Suite Hotel.

While you don't have to pay to enter, the other requirements to qualify do still apply.

  • The run time must be between 5 and 15 minutes including all titles and credits. 
  • Credits may be no longer than 30 seconds. 
  • Only live-action, narrative films are eligible. All genres other than documentary and animation are accepted. 
  • To qualify for the $25,000 cash prize, all productions must take place in Louisiana. 
  • To qualify for the $50,000 cash prize, all productions must take place in Caddo Parish.
  • Films must be independently produced and financed.
