Bond set at $50,000 for Watertown man facing rape, burglary charges after June 17 incident

A Watertown man is charged with rape and burglary after a June 17 incident, according to court documents.

Austin Grout, 26, is facing two charges of rape, one count of  burglary and a misdemeanor charge of domestic simple assault.

He is currently being held on a $50,000 cash bond in the Codington County Detention Center. Bond was set at his initial appearance on Tuesday. His next court date is a preliminary hearing slated for Tuesday.

According to court documents, Grout is accused of two counts of rape that involved use of force, coercion or threats of bodily harm. The felony burglary charge stems from entering or remaining in an occupied structure at night, according to the charges.
