EATON COUNTY, MI -- A Saranac man died Wednesday night when the vehicle he was driving hit a semitruck head-on, police said.
At about 7:40 p.m. June 22, deputies from the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash reported on Grand Ledge Highway east of M-50, police said.
Bradly Christopher Hugmeyer, 21, from Saranac, was traveling east in a Jeep Grand Cherokee when it collided head-on with a semi traveling west, police said. Hugmeyer died at the scene from his injuries, police said.
The driver of the semi, a man from New Jersey, was not hurt in the crash, police said.
Grand Ledge Highway was closed for about six hours while police investigated.
This crash remains under investigation by the Eaton County Detective Bureau and Accident Investigation Team.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Sunfield Township Fire Department, Woodland Township Fire Department, Woodland Township Police, Castleton Maplegrove Nashville EMS and Michgian Department of Transportation.
