Grube wins Best of Show in TPD Photo Contest

CRESCO - Vickie Grube earned the Champion Best of Show Award for her photo ‘A Mother Nature Moment’ in Mighty Howard County Fair’s Photo Contest, sponosred by the Times Plain Dealer. 

Grube will receive $50 in Cresco Chamber Dollars for winning the top prize. A total of 86 photos were entered in the contest, which was 41 more than were received in 2021.

The Champion Best of Show, Reserve Champion and individual first place winners in each category can pick up their prizes at the Times Plain Dealer office at 214 North Elm Street in Cresco.

The Reserve Champion prize went to Kimberly Langum’s photo, ‘Happy Farmer.’ Langum will receive $25 in Cresco Chamber Dollars.

“Vickie’s photo of a bee in a flower showed good composition and looked very professional,” one of the contest judges noted.

“Kimberly’s photo of a girl in a barn next to a calf showed tremendous lighting and was a great photo,” another judge said.

The photo contest showcased four categories: Scenic, Nature & Places; People; Life in Iowa and Youth (18 & under). First place entries received $25 in Cresco Chamber Dollars and two Cresco Theatre Movie Passes. Second, third and honorable mention winners received ribbons.
