UGA still the envy of nearly every NCAA program despite losing out on Arch Manning

Arch Manning's recruitment had been a major talking point in the college football world, but he made waves with his commitment to the University of Texas. The Bulldog program may have missed out, but they are still in very good shape.

Arch Manning, the number one player in the class of 2023 and nephew of former NFL quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning, has committed to the University of Texas. He had also received strong interest from Alabama and the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs.

The recruitment of the blue-chip player has enamored the college football world for a few years now. Manning now figures to be a cornerstone for the Texas program under second-year head coach, and former Falcons offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian. He will immediately come in and compete with 2021's number one quarterback Quinn Ewers.

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are still in very good shape at the quarterback position despite losing out on the talents of Manning.

The roster features multiple blue-chip recruits that the program can turn to in the coming years. Carson Beck is a former 4-star recruit out of Jacksonville, Florida and he will be competing with a former 5-star recruit, Brock Vandagriff, for the role of primary backup to starter Stetson Bennett. Both of these players project as prototypical pro-style quarterbacks that fit very well into the Todd Monken scheme in their second year in the system.

Beck and Vandagriff are both unknown commodities to most fans as they saw only very limited action last season. The pair combined for 10 completions for 176 yards, with a pair of touchdowns and interceptions.

Also on the roster is 2022 5-star quarterback Gunner Stockton. He will be given every opportunity to compete for time, but will likely be a stronger redshirt candidate.

The defending national champions may have lost out on the talents of Manning, but it is safe to say that they would be the envy of nearly every other program in America. The quarterback room is still quite full, and Smart will look inside for the quarterback to take over following the departure of Bennett after the upcoming season.
