MACOMB/Moline, IL – For more than 11 years, the Western Illinois University Office of Student Engagement’s (OSE) “Purple Post” site has served as the premier resource for WIU students looking to get involved. Beginning July 1, 2022, the Purple Post will transition to a new format, the Leatherneck Link, which will provide even easier access and opportunities for students to make the most of their WIU experience.

Like the former Purple Post, the Leatherneck Link gives students information on how to get involved, which in turn allows students to build relationships with others, along with leadership skills and greater academic success, according to Nick Katz, OSE director.

“Involvement and leadership opportunities are a vital part of the college experience and really give students a leg up when they graduate and begin searching for jobs,” Katz added. “Studies show that college students who are involved in different activities are more likely to succeed and persist in college and beyond. We’re proud to offer an easy-to-use site for our students to stay up-to-date with all events and learn more about the hundreds of organizations available to them at Western.”

WIU’s OSE serves as the clearinghouse for over 200 organizations, from social, multicultural, and academic to service to fraternity and sorority life. The clubs and organizations are listed alphabetically and can be searched by category on the Leatherneck Link, with brief descriptions available for most, along with the leadership boards of each. Student organizations and departments/offices can also post their events for students, faculty and staff.

Students, faculty and staff can login at wiu.edu/leathernecklink to learn more about events at WIU. Student organizations can also post their events by logging in.

For more information, contact OSE at (309) 298-3232 or email OSE@wiu.edu.
