NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell today issued the following statement praising Senator Bill Cassidy for his leadership in advancing bipartisan gun legislation this week:
"I would like to thank Senator Cassidy for his instrumental role in crafting and negotiating the bipartisan gun safety legislation that is poised to pass the U.S. Senate," said Mayor Cantrell.
"This legislation places on us the path towards the common sense gun safety measures the country clearly demands. Senator Cassidy, who has been consistently courageous in his leadership where it has truly counted, once again rose above partisan politics. His support for this bipartisan gun safety legislation will give the people of our state and across the nation a greater sense of security from the impacts of gun violence that plagues America."
