Sometimes stars are really just like us. Drew Barrymore has been getting her hands dirty recently by helping out with the demolition phase of what looks to be a major kitchen renovation in one of her homes, and the talk show host seems to be experiencing all of the intense emotions that sometimes accompany a remodel.

A video posted on Barrymore’s Instagram account on Monday shows the former child star relieving some pent-up frustration by taking a hammer to the green-and-white tiled backsplash in her kitchen. The song from Home Depot’s commercials plays in the background of the video, which she captioned, “Don’t mind me, I’m just having the time of my LIFE.”

In another clip, posted Wednesday, the Santa Clarita Diet star seems to have made progress on the room (her bubblegum pink cabinets are gone, as well as the floral wallpaper, but the light fixture tells us the second video was also shot in the kitchen), and is in a softer emotional state. “It’s so hopeful,” she says, her voice breaking, as she stares through a hole in the drywall in front of her. “Something could be so covered up and dark. You can pry it open and create light.” The video then jumps back in time a bit to show Barrymore seeing the hole her construction crew has cut in the drywall for the first time.

“So the people who owned this apartment before me covered up a window with drywall,” she explains. “I don’t know why. And I was like, ‘I know there’s a window. And guess what? There’s a window. We’re about to reveal it.’” Indeed, inside the small hole in the drywall, behind some insulation, is a fully functioning, glass-paned window that Barrymore is able to push open. “I knew there was a window here,” she says, clearly overcome with emotion.

We don’t know much about Barrymore’s plans for the renovation, but it is safe to say that the decor enthusiast, who often does design segments with interior decorator Mikel Welch on her talk show, is aiming for a light and bright space. We also spotted what looks like a table with a top shaped like a flower in the background, but it’s hard to say if that is a leftover item from her previous kitchen or something brand new. At any rate, we’ll keep an eye on Barrymore’s Instagram for updates.
