New sidewalks could be coming near the Kirksville Aquatic Center.
The city is in the process of applying for the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant.
If awarded the grant, two new sidewalks will be built near the Aquatic Center and future apartment complex and near Rotary Park.
One sidewalk would go along New Street from Mill Street to Baltimore Street and the other would go along Mill Street from New Street to Baltimore Street.
The city has until the end of the month to apply for the grant.
The total cost of the project is just shy of $240,000.
If the city is awarded the grant, it would cover almost $180,000 of the project.
The city would pay the remaining costs.
The city previously was awarded this grant to build a sidewalk along North Baltimore Street from New Street to Highway 6 West.
