GLASGOW — The search for the newest superintendent of Glasgow Independent Schools is nearing its end.

Nine candidates submitted applications to the school system’s superintendent screening committee. Eight of the applications are in-state and one is out-of-state, according to a news release from the Kentucky Association of School Administrators. Two have prior experience as superintendents.

Applicants will be screened, per state law and board policy, they said. The committee is expected to make a recommendation to the board of education by July 11.

Superintendent Keith Hale announced his retirement May 10 despite his contract extension earlier this year.
