An Ashtabula County man is being held in the Mercer County Jail on a $250,000 bond after state police say he led them on a chase and crashed into a police cruiser.

Police say a car they tried to pull over for a license plate violation on Tuesday fled, leading to a pursuit, during which the car ran into a State Police vehicle.

The chase ended after police placed spiked strips near New Wilmington, flattening two of the car’s tires.

The suspect, 37-year-old Corey Hennigan of Rock Creek, Ohio, was arraigned on ten charges including assault, recklessly endangering a person, fleeing police, and DUI.
