An injured dog rescued from the side of Interstate 75 by a THP trooper and good Samaritan last week, will soon have a new home.

Cleveland resident Kaye Fiorello shared on social media that she was driving up I-75 when she passed a trooper and minutes later saw the pup in a ditch by one of the exit signs.

Fiorello says she could tell the dog looked like it was in bad shape so she risked a ticket by turning through a turnaround on the freeway to get back to the trooper and ask for help.

Fiorello says the trooper, Pumpy Tudor, didn't hesitate and they both went to help the female dog.

"We found her. Still there, panting like she was fixing to die," Fiorello says.

Trooper Tudors then dumped out his jug of Kool-Aid and cut a water bowl out of the jug for the dog and filled it with water along with a snack the trooper had in his car.

He then went further, grabbing a chair and umbrella to shield the dog from the heat.

Fiorello says the dog made it to the vet where she was found to have a fractured pelvis and was told the dog was the "sweetest."

Trooper Tudor is now adopting the dog.

"I've actually got to go and see here a couple times at the vet and she remembered who I was and and even got a lick on the paw, er hand , and got a little tail wag yesterday," says Tudor.

Animal shelter staff waited in line Wednesday on behalf of Trooper Tudors to make sure he could adopt the dog.

The dog had surgery last week, so Tudors could not pick up the dog yet, but the plan is to pick up the dog next week.
