Men's Lacrosse Represented by Five Players on NEILA All-Academic Team

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Five Harvard Men's Lacrosse players earned spots on the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division I All-Academic Team, as announced by the organization this afternoon. Seniors Steven CuccurulloAustin Madronic, Kyle Massimillian, Kyle Mullin and Charlie Olmert all landed on t he team after scoring high marks in the classroom during their senior years. These are the second academic honors for Kyle Mullin and Charlie Olmert this season after Olmert earned Senior CLASS First-Team All-America honors and Mullin earned a Scholar All-American nomination from the USILA. All five of these seniors positively effected the Harvard Men's Lacrosse cumulative GPA, which yesterday was announced as the highest in the nation amongst Division I schools. 

Steven Cuccurullo - M/FO - Smithtown, N.Y. - Smithtown East: Tallied one groundball and six faceoff wins at Rutgers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament (May 15) … Recorded three groundballs and nine faceoff wins at No. 9 Yale (April 30) … Notched three groundballs and 15 faceoff wins against No. 3 Princeton (April 23) … Picked up four faceoff wins at No. 11 Penn (April 16) … Registered two groundballs and seven faceoff wins at No. 6 Cornell (April 9) … Posted two groundballs and seven faceoff wins against Colgate (April 2) … Recorded four groundballs and 15 faceoff wins against Dartmouth (March 26) … Notched six groundballs and 14 faceoff wins against No. 13 Boston University (March 22) … Picked up one groundball and one faceoff win against No. 13 Brown (March 19) … Tallied five groundballs and nine faceoff wins at No. 13 Michigan (March 12) … Registered six groundballs, one goal and 11 faceoff wins at Fairfield (March 5) … Posted four groundballs and six faceoff wins against No. 8 Ohio State (Feb. 26) … Recorded two groundballs and five faceoff wins against NJIT (Feb. 19).

Members of the teams are nominated by head coaches in Divisions I, II and II, and are comprised of student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field over the course of their men's lacrosse career. Nominees must have senior or graduate student standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be an impact player for their team.
