Well, this is different.
Former New York Yankees prospect Clint Frazier decided he needed a change. So that’s exactly what he did. Say hello to Jackson Frazier.
Iowa Cubs broadcaster Alex Cohen explained the situation Wednesday on Twitter:
After a two-hit game last night, had a nice chat with @clintfrazier. Learned that he wants us to go by his middle name, Jackson, moving forward. Apparently, family and friends refer to him as Jackson and even his Cubs teammates in big leagues called him that. Jackson Frazier.
Cohen tweeted updates Wednesday afternoon during Iowa’s matinee against Triple-A Louisville:
Feel good, play good. Jackson (Clint) Frazier with a two-run single helps give the @IowaCubs a 3-1 lead here in the third inning today. Frazier is 3-for-7 with 3 RBI so far this series.
And guess who breaks up a 4-4 tie game in the 10th inning with an RBI 2B for the @IowaCubs ? Yup, Jackson Frazier. Or it may be Jaxon Frazier. I don’t know. It’s been a weird day. Frazier: 2-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI.

The Cubs designated Frazier for assignment on June 10 as Chicago visited Yankee Stadium for a weekend series against the Yankees.
Frazier opted to remain in the organization and head to Triple-A Iowa as a non-roster player rather than become a free agent.
Frazier was hitting .216 with no home runs and one RBI in 45 plate appearances this season with the Cubs, who signed him to a $1.5-million deal with another $1 million in incentives for the 2022 season after the Yankees cut him in November. Frazier was on the injured list for a little more than a month after being diagnosed with appendicitis April 22.
