West Bromwich Albion: Millwall winger Jed Wallace joins Baggies on four-year deal

West Bromwich Albion have signed former Wolves winger Jed Wallace from Championship rivals Millwall.

The 28-year-old, who was out of contract with the London club, moves to The Hawthorns on a four-year deal.

Wallace follows Reading midfielder John Swift as Baggies boss Steve Bruce's second signing of the summer.

"We identified those two in particular as arguably the two stand-out free transfers in the division," Bruce told BBC Radio WM.

"It's something we wanted to improve in terms of creativity, pace and trying to score more goals. And both of them have got that in abundance.

"Our CEO Ron Gourlay has worked tirelessly on trying to get out main targets in and I'm delighted.

"I've tried to sign Jed twice before and never been able to get him. He's a very good player. And so is Swifty. They will add that bit of quality at the top end."

Albion, who eventually finished in 10th last season, managed just 52 goals in their 46 league games - the lowest total in the top half of the Championship.

Wallace, who had been offered a new deal by Millwall, has been an instrumental figure at The Den, having scored 44 goals in 260 appearances since first arriving from Wolves, initially on loan in January 2016,

In his second Millwall loan stint a season later in 2017, he then helped them earn promotion back to the Championship from League One before making the move more permanent.

Millwall said in a club statement that Wallace "departs as a Lions legend" and that "he has been a superb servant" to the club with his "exemplary personality on and off the pitch".
