Joyce Rowe, 84, of Littlefield Texas, peacefully completed her time on this earth on June 17, 2022 at Library of Legacies.

Joyce was born on February 12, 1938 to Virgil and Alice (Duvall) Willingham in Middle Grove Missouri. She moved to Texas in 1946 with her parents. After graduating from Lubbock High School in 1956, she attended Drones Business College. Joyce married Bennie Ussery in 1958. While married to Bennie she was blessed with two daughters, Kim and Rebecca.

Joyce spent many hours with Kim and Rebecca as they moved through the offices of the McKenzie Rainbow assembly. She was also an active member of Freedom Eastern Star Chapter at that time

Joyce taught science and reading and drove a bus at Mecham’s School from 1966 through 1980. After leaving Mechams she went to work with Patrick Pappas, MD where she was the office manager, stand in nurse, and anything else he asked her to do. She was with Dr Pappas for over 30 years caring for ‘her’ patients like family.

Joyce married Roy Rowe in 1984. She loved working cattle, riding horses and picking up pecans with Roy until his death in 2016.

Joyce was a charter member of Community Christian Church in Lubbock and though she was not able to attend after moving to Littlefield, she maintained her membership there until her death. After moving to Littlefield in 2015, she attended Crescent Park Church of Christ and later moved to Sudan Church of Christ until she could no longer attend in person.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Roy.

She is survived by her daughters, Kim Billingsley and husband, Sam of Littlefield, Rebecca Ussery of Yukon, OK, and Lesa Zint and husband, Steve of Wolfforth. Sons, Virgil Rowe and partner, Jan of Lubbock, and David Rowe and wife, Donna of Austin. 10 grandchildren, Gilbert Jones and husband, Matthew Andersen of Cleveland OH, Thad Jones of Tahoka, Stephen Ussery and wife, Amanda of Harrah OK, Amanda VanBrug of Lubbock, Jeremy Zint and wife, Brittney of Lubbock, Michael Rowe of Ralls, Lacy Rowe of Bastrop, Angela Teague and husband, Robin of Dallas, Samuel Billingsley and wife, Callie of Brownfield and Matt Billingsley of Angel Fire NM. Nine great grandchildren; sister by choice, Lorene Billingsley; many cousins and friends whom she cared for and loved throughout the years.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, June 23rd, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. Celebration of life will be Friday, June 24th at 10 a.m. in Grace Chapel at Hillcrest Funeral Home with Sam Billingsley and Terry Wilson officiating, followed by burial at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock at 2 p.m. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Gilbert Jones, Thad Jones, Stephen Ussery, Matthew Andersen, Michael Rowe and Jeremy Zint.

The family would like to thank the staff at Library of Legacies, Littlefield for the wonderful love and care they showed to Joyce over the last 4 years.
