Senator Raphael Warnock's months of lobbying the White House to suspend the federal gasoline tax seems to be paying off. Wednesday, President Joe Biden called on Congress to pause the tax through the end of September.

Sen. Warnock tells Audacy Atlanta's Maria Boynton "I'm glad that someone is listening and we need to get this done in the Congress. This is something that we can do that will provide hard working families much needed relief."

Warnock introduced the Gas Prices Relief Act in February. While the proposal announced by Biden calls for a 3-month suspension, Warnock's plan would temporarily suspend the federal gas tax through the end of the year. Both plans would lower gas prices by 18 cents a gallon.

"Now that President Biden is on board", says Warnock, "it's time for Congress to move urgently to pass my legislation that will help Georgians keep even more money in their pockets while also holding greedy oil companies accountable." The Democrat from Georgia also adds, "We can't act fast enough to help Georgians save more of their hard-earned dollars."
