OHS alumni reunion to be held Saturday

OSMOND — For the 34th time, Osmond High School graduates will return to their alma mater for a reunion, after the previous date set for 2020 was canceled because of COVID-19. The get-together will take place on Saturday, June 25. Activities will take place at Osmond city auditorium and the street downtown.

The theme for this year’s reunion is “Where Everybody Knows Your Name.”

Osmond Community School officials have invited returning alumni to tour the facility. Doors will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The cocktail hour is planned for the city auditorium for 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. A catered roast beef dinner will be served from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the auditorium. This will be followed by a program and meeting, also at the auditorium.

Wrapping up the evening will be a street dance which will take place downtown at the “post office corner.”

Music will be provided by a live band — Last Minute. There will no admission charged for this year’s dance. Alcoholic beverages will be provided by all three city liquor establishments, Main Street Alley, 3rd Street Bar & Grill and Thomsen’s Corner. Directions for entering the street dance will be given after the meal.

Honor classes will be recognized during the program. They include the 25-year classes (1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997), 50-year classes (1969, 1970, 1971 and 1972), 60-year classes (1959, 1960, 1961 and 1962), 70 year classes (1949, 1950, 1951 and 1952) and classes graduating earlier than 1949. Also introduced will be the oldest graduate present and the newest classes — 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. A business meeting will be held after the recognitions.

A new member will be inducted to the OHS Hall of Fame. Members of that committee are Jim Peschel (Class of 1973), chairman; Cheryl Blunck Friedrich (1979), co-chairman; Tom Schmit (1987) and Julie Schmit Wragge (1990).

A report on the alumni golf tournament to be held the afternoon of the reunion will be given. In charge of the tournament are Justin Koehler and Joel Kumm (both from the Class of 2002).

Chairman of this year’s reunion is Dennis Kuhl (1984). Other members of the committee are Dennis Haselhorst, co-chairman (1978), Aaron Gutz (2007), Brian Borgmann (1974), Garret Kuhl (2011), Jeff Luhr (1994), Lacy (Johnson) Stelling (2008), Leah (Gubbels) Kuhl (2012), Justin Bahr (1991), Leah (Manzer) Orr (1998).
