Five injured in explosion at marijuana grow house

Five people were injured after an explosion that caused a weed-growing operation in central Pennsylvania to go up in smoke.

An incinerator blew up at the Ilera Healthcare medical marijuana facility in Taylor Township just before noon on Wednesday, according to WTAJ-TV.

One person suffered burns to more than 30 percent of their body and was airlifted to a hospital in Pittsburgh, 100 miles away, the station said.

Another burn victim was reportedly flown to a hospital in Altoona, and three others were taken to local hospitals by ambulance.

“All we know is the incinerator blew up inside the building itself. And we checked it, and there was no further damage to the inside of the building,” Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Company Chief Darius Deshong told WGAL-TV.

The facility cultivates medical marijuana products and reportedly employs more than 300 people.
