An impressive Year 1 for Texas A&M baseball under coach Jim Schlossnagle came to a close Wednesday. The Aggies were eliminated from the College World Series by Oklahoma.

Even though Texas A&M fell short of winning it all, the 2022 season was a terrific start to the Schlossnagle era. The former TCU coach inherited a team that went 29-27 overall and 9-21 in SEC play in 2021, finishing last in the SEC West. Schlossnagle’s first Texas A&M team finished the 2022 regular season by winning the SEC West (19-11 conference record) before going on to win 7 NCAA Tournament games for 44 total victories.

In Wednesday’s postgame press conference, Schlossnagle said he was proud to see his squad reignite the Aggie fanbase. He hopes the 2022 season leads the Texas A&M administration to commit to improvements to the home ballpark.

“I think the biggest thing this year does is number one: It reignites our fan base. I hope it gets some people to speed up the process of renovating our ballpark,” Schlossnagle said after the game, per TexAgs.

Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park in College Station is Texas A&M’s home ballpark. Opened in 1978, Olsen Field underwent a major renovation from 2011-to-2012. Blue Bell Creameries received naming rights with a significant donation for the renovations. The park’s attendance record is 7,537 for a game against Texas on April 10, 2018.

We’ll see if Texas A&M’s 2022 season leads to some ballpark enhancements.
