COLVILLE, Wash. — A crew with the Washington State Department of Transportation got a surprise that kept them abuzz Wednesday morning in Colville.

Crews said they noticed a swarm of bees at a facility shed.

After calling in Hunting Bee Apiary, more than 5,000 honeybees were found on the bottom of a manhole cover.

One thing worth taking note of is that bees are the world’s most important pollinators.

WSDOT tweeted that it took more than 20 minutes for a beekeeper to find the queen and safely relocate her.
